Imagination Unleashed: A Season of Whimsy and Wonder 2

We are proud to announce our 2024-2025 Performing Arts Season “Imagination Unleashed: A Season of Whimsy and Wonder!”

“This year, our main stage shows will give everyone in your family a night of great entertainment at a great price!” stated Scott D. Miller, director, he continues “Our theatrical musical productions is a season for all ages, and we hope the community will continue to support our future actors and actresses in our very memorable musical productions.”

We kick off “Imagination Unleashed: A Season of Whimsy and Wonder with our Wayne Highlands Middle School musical production of Disney's Finding Nemo, JR. (November 22-23, 2024) We join Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish who lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean to find his son Nemo and meets new friends along the way in this Disney Musical classic.

Ringing in the new year, Honesdale High School proudly presents the musical Matilda. (February 14-16, 2025) Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! You and your family will love this musical and all of its magic!

We end March and go out like a lion with and all star cast from Wayne Highlands Middle School and Honesdale High School as they come together to proudly present Into the Woods, Jr. (March 29-30, 2025), in our dessert theatre cabaret in our Black Box Theatre. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever. With unforgettable roles, Into the Woods JR will showcase our ensemble of talented singers and actors.

In April, Friends of Honesdale Performing Arts, hope you join us for our annual fundraiser event, as we travel to New York City to see the highly acclaimed Broadway Musical: “SIX,” on Saturday, April 12, 2025at the The Lena Horne Theatre with a private meet and greet of the cast after the show! We hope you get your SIX Bus Trip tickets now online! We have 150 tickets available, with payment plans available, and tickets being sold on a first come first serve basis.

Lastly, we close our season "Imagination Unleashed: A Season of Whimsy and Wonder!" with our summer performing arts academy's production of Something Rotten, Jr (July 25-26, 2025). We go back to the 1590s, as brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.
