The April 14 episode featured a medley with rewritten lyrics of “Who Am I?” and more.
Broadway alum and comedian John Mulaney hosted Saturday Night Live April 14 episode and added a dash of musical theatre when the “Diner Lobster” sketch parodied Les Misérables in a medley of three songs from the iconic musical.
SNL cast member Pete Davidson surprises the staff at Big Nicky’s diner by ordering the lobster special. Suddenly, Keenan Thompson rolls out (in a tank) as the doomed lobster dressed as Jean Valjean contemplating his fate in “Who Am I?”. Kate McKinnon enters as “Clawsette,” singing a version of “Castle on a Cloud” as she offers to go in her father’s place. The sketch finishes off with a climactic take on “Do You Hear the People Sing?”
Mulaney made his Broadway debut in 2016, starring in his Oh, Hello on Broadway alongside Nick Kroll. The comedian was previously a writer for Saturday Night Live.
